Garden in my Heart (Mixed Media)

$500

This work was exhibited at the Clarington Gallery and the Simcoe Gallery.  It is made of plaster bandages with glued on flowers from my garden.   It speaks of love blossoming from within one self.   For the Clarington Show ?The Journey? in 2000 Margaret Rodgers wrote:  ?Losier employs the metaphor of the garden to chronicle on ongoing exploration of identity.  Revisiting the VAC, Losier references a personal inner journey that has continued over the past decade.  In 1991 she exhibited works that focused upon her athletic endeavors, dealing with issues of personal best and physical accomplishment as a healing mechanism.  Now at the close of a decade of art making Losier takes her work into a spiritual and intellectual domain.  Several baskets and a torso covered in dried flowers imply ?growth, beauty, serenity, appreciation of life, and harvesting? but also evoke a smothering claustrophobic, even frightening aspect which alludes to a painful past against which this artist has struggled valiantly.  Rich in symbolism, each work merits close and thoughtful examination.?
